DescriptionUpon the death of Dr. James E. Shepard, founder and president of the college, the Board of Trustees appointed an interim committee(1947) consisting of Dr. Albert T. Turner, dean of the School of Law, and (not pictured) Dr. Albert E. Manley, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Miss Ruth G. Rush, dean of women were appointed to carry out the administrative responsibilities of the college. Dr. Albert Turner was the first full time African-American dean of the School of Law. The Albert T. Tuner Law School Building is named in honor of Dr. Turner for his contributions and years of service to the university.
