Title	1922 Poultry Barn
Description	The Agricultural department was popular especially among the rural students, but the location of a site for the new agricultural school proved to be a problem. Beginning in the summer, 1890, the professor of the Agricultural and Mechanical department, Hugh Jamison, Jr., began searching for a suitable farm to rent or purchase. The first two efforts to acquire a location -a portion of Audubon Park, and later the "Fouchertract" on St. Charles Avenue-failed and delayed practical work in the department for almost a year. The growth of enrollment was tremendous and forty-two students were in attendance the first month.A site for the new agricultural school was finally obtained about four miles outside New Orleans on the Mississippi River, near Harahan. The Miffoff place, consisting of one-hundred acres was leased for one year. The farm was in a truck farming community, later accessible by railroads.
