Description	Dr. Paul P. Cooke, was the third president of DCTC and served from 1966 through 1974. Dr. Cooke has lived in the District of Columbia since 1921, when his family moved from Harlem, New York. He graduated from Dunbar High School. He earned a BA degree in English from Miner's Teachers College in 1937, a MA in higher education from New York University in 1941, a MA from The Catholic University of America in English literature in 1942, and a doctorate in education from Columbia University in 1947. He received an honorary degree from UDC in 1986. Dr. Cooke taught junior high school in the District of Columbia prior to teaching at the District of Columbia Teachers College (DCTC). Cooke was a professor at DCTC from 1954 through 1966, rising from the ranks from instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, to full professor. He served as acting dean at DCTC from 1962 to 1964.
