Description	The Franklin School building, at 660 K Street NE, Washington, DC, was the first home for Wilson’s Teacher College, then known as the Washington Normal School. By an act of the Legislative Assembly for the DC Territorial Government, the new Washington Normal School was placed in the Franklin School Building. The first class attended between September 1873 and June 1874. It consisted of 18 young white women. “Franklin” continues in use well into the early 21st century.
