Description	Dr. Walter E. Hager (1895-1990) was appointed president of Wilson Teachers College in 1941. He earned is Bachelors in Science from the University of Nebraska in 1916; his A.M. from Columbia University in 1927, and his PhD from Columbia University in 1932. He served as an instructor at several schools and the University of Nebraska. Prior to coming to Wilson, he was secretary and associate director of the student journal, Teachers College, Columbia University. He served as President of Wilson Teachers College until 1955, when he became the first president of DC Teachers College. He served as DCTC’s president until 1958. He was one of the leaders to end segregation in the public education in the District of Columbia.
